Soda sometimes helps you
Jul. 12th, 2008 | 11:55 pm
Jones Soda is a favorite company of mine. Their soda often has a fortune that's rather helpful under the cap. And this one set the precedent for the rest. Ever since, I have gotten much enjoyment from looking under the caps.

Seeking the Lost

mood: artistic
What once was had,
Is far away,
Replacement bad,
Many words to say,
None that sound right
Salvaging her,
Seems so pleasing,
We never fought,
Key to the throne,
Given-Taken,
Given-Taken,
Duplicity shown,
Needing the past,
Wished it would last,
Ghostly feeling,
Feeling her still,
Lost every thrill,
Year of lying,
To love is to lie
Andrw Age:18 after losing his first gf

My Hero
Jul. 12th, 2008 | 11:39 pm
mood: poetic
My hero is the one you have all your life, that seems to have always been there.
My hero is the one that is there in the reflection of a glass and when you turn to look, they are not there, but you know their message.
My hero is the one that speaks with pillow mint words so sweet and suggestive that you will always remember them.
My hero is one that is brave as the oil fire that burns bright in the night that is too strong to be extinguished fast.
My hero is the one that stands as a beacon for lost ships in the dark, that guides all to the right path.
My hero is the one that is yours not for material wealth but for mental and emotional wealth.
My hero is my hero because they are the iron clad guide, reason and example in my hour of need.
My hero is not the one listed in the memorials of our lost veterans, the one on the front page headlines across the country, not even the one that has wealth and skills like celebrities.
My hero is the one that speaks pillow mint words so sweet, with a fire so brave, with iron clad examples, with a beacon for lost ships in the dark.

Is this good?

music: "all mixed up" by mark kozelek
My parent's are stopping by tomorrow on their way back to my hometown. It's not that they are bad people, it's that when they come around....all of my progress to move past my childhood ceases and along with that my school work grinds to a halt. I try and explain that I have drawings to finish and it still become a game of hide and seek....a game that leads to misinformation campaigns. My dad even told me today over the phone "Oh, and I just realized that Monday morning you have school early, so we can't keep you out of class". I am dumbfounded how my parents can spend so much of their time doting on their 1 and only child, yet have no recollection of why I am jumping through hoops to over prepare ahead of their arrival....and continue to remind them that I am in school, summer school, on a strict schedule of work and that I don't have the time to entertain guests.
I keep asking myself...."is it good that they throw their love for me around like a commanding principle rather than expressing it in the time and space I should get when I am under tight deadlines?"

drawing 2

mood:
numb
music: silence
I started drawing 2 today. I already want to get the hell out of there. A majority of my classmates are photography majors, like me, and I wonder why. Could it be that drawing is not every photography majors forte and as a result, they avoid it until they have to take it. So here I am, in my own little corner of hell.

Junior Kimbrough
Jul. 5th, 2008 | 11:11 pm
location: apartment
mood:
contemplative
music: Meet Me in the City by Junior Kimbrough
Junior Kimbrough is to me the best example of how my musical tastes fall below the mainstream and dive into spirals of furious digging to uncover a sound not often heard. I love that when one of my coworkers picks up my Zune and scrolls through the artist, that they will only find a few familiar names. It's my statement to the world that I take pride in my broad range of little known music. Junior Kimbrough came from lots of digging. Junior started with the Black Keys and in time, I realized that their album, Chulahoma was not only different from their others, but an entire cover of Junior's music. Then I got hooked. I spent my time exploring his works, enjoying the place of origin and how he came to be a big success despite being only heard of in the tightest circles. Now I believe in the mantra of all Junior fans Junior Kimbrough is the beginning and the end of all music....great words said by his friend, Charlie Feathers, and later placed on Junior's headstone.

Bikes
Jul. 3rd, 2008 | 10:04 pm
location: denton
mood:
so irritated too
music: the dirtbombs- Here comes that sound again
I have recently learned to ride a bike. Yes, a bike. I absolutely have the worst luck with the process of obtaining a bike. Getting a bike is like buying into an elitist club full of people who will blatantly point out with cutting honesty how toy are below them for not having the best. I have so far spent more than necessary for a bike, due to the fact that the first one I bought was used...my mistake, so I accept the loss of 40.00 bucks because it was too far gone to be of use (despite appearing acceptable). So then I buy a bike and during the time it was working, I actually obtained enough staggered, shaky experience to ride the thing. Unfortunately, it shortly blew one of it's tubes, so I went to the local bike shop, and got it replaced, and they pointed out that both tires were deformed. Apparently, if I had the experience, I could have noticed the terrible ride quality...but I didn't. So I spent 55 dollars there and returned to my apartment. A few hours later I find the rear tire flat as can be!!!! Now the other tire has a blown tube. I'm beyond mad. I absolutely can't stand bikes. I also can't understand why most things I try to do end up being an ordeal far beyond the lines of reason.
So now I am pleading with my mother, trying to convince her to show the love she claims exists for me. I am asking her to bring my dad's 1964 Schwinn bike up to Denton on her way to Arkansas next week. I had my dad's Schwinn restored last year when I was trying to learn bike riding. Well now, I can't return the bike I just bought, and refuse to fix the other tube due to the likelihood of further malfunctions.
I'm counting my pennies because summer school is forcing me to stop working at the TX Motor Speedway. So I'm applying to jobs each week and hearing nothing back. I am spending so much on bikes, that I can't understand how they save people money....especially on gas. I keep having to drive my truck to various places to get bike issues resolved.
